Mara Torres

Mara Torres (Madrid, 1974) is a journalist and writer and has postgraduate and doctorate studies in Language and Literature. In 2008 she started studying Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Philology at UCM.

She has spent her professional career at Cadena SER where she directed the program Hablar por hablar between 2001 and 2006, making it a leading show on night-time radio. From there she moved to TVE to present La 2 Noticias, which has won over one hundred and fifty awards, becoming the most successful news show in Spain. Amongst other awards Mara Torres has won the Golden Antenna and the Silver Microphone.

In 2004 she published the book Hablar por hablar. Historias de madrugada and, in 2006, Sin ti. Cuatro miradas desde la ausencia (a finalist in the 4th Setenil Award for the Best Real-Life Tales), both non-fiction woks.

La vida imaginaria is her first novel.
