Fernando Delgado (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1947) published his first novel, Tachero, winner of the Benito Pérez Armas Prize, in 1973. Following on from this came Exterminio en Lastenia (Pérez Galdós Prize 1979), Ciertas Personas (1989), Háblame de ti (1993), La mirada del otro (Premio Planeta 1995), No estabas en el cielo (1996), Escrito por Luzbel (1981) and Isla sin mar (2002). His poetry is collected in three books: Proceso de adivinaciones (1981), Autobiografía del hijo (1995) and Presencias de ceniza (2001), a selection of his poetry which contains numerous previously unpublished texts. A journalist working for print, radio and television media, with a degree in Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense, he also published Cambio de tiempo (articles and essays) in 1994 and Parece mentira (journalistic/literary writing) in 2005. He won the Europa prize in 1986, and the Ondas Nacional de Televisión Prize in 1995 for his cultural work on weekend television on TVE and the Villa de Madrid “Mesonero Romanos” prize for journalism in 2006 for his articles in El País.
