Carlos Briones Llorente, the coordinator of this book, has a Doctorate in Chemistry (specializing in Bio-Chemistry and Molecular Biology) from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is a Head Scientist at the CSIC at its Astrobiology Centre (CSIC-INTA, associated with the NASA Astrobiology Institute). The group he directs carries out research into the origins and evolution of life, the genetics of viruses and the development of biosensors.
