Fernando Vicente (Madrid, 1963) is a painter and illustrator. Self-taught, he began his artistic career in the ferment of the movida in Madrid. Later he worked in advertising, becoming art director in several agencies. In 1999, he returned to professional illustration, where he has remained since. Among his most popular collaborations are his illustrations for El País, especially those for the supplement Babelia, which have earned him three Awards of Excellence from the Society for News Design.
