Fernando García del Río (Santander, 1962), received his degree in Journalism from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, and has written for La Vanguardia since 1991. He has been its correspondent in Sao Paulo (2011-2012), Havana (2007-2011) and Brussels (2002-2007); head of news from the courts and police in Madrid (1997-2002), and North Spain correspondent (1991-1997). He currently works for the La Vanguardia office in Madrid.
