Begoña Huertas Uhagon

Begoña Huertas (Gijón, 1965) won the Casa de las Américas prize for her work Ensayo de un cambio: la narrativa cubana en la década de los 80 (1994). She is the autor of the short story collection A tragos (Debate, 1996), and the novels Déjenme dormir en paz (Debate, 1998), Por eso envejecemos tan deprisa (Debate, 2001) and En el fondo. Pide una copa, paga Proust (451 Editores, 2009). From 2010 to February 2012 she formed part of the opinion section of the newspaper Público. Subsequently, she continued her activity as an opinion writer in the collective blog «Habitación 423». She currently lives in Madrid, gives classes in writing workshops in the Universidad Autónoma and other centres, and forms part of the staff of Hotel Kafka.
